What the eyes see and the ears hear, the mind believes

For the second time, life has taught me that it is wrong to expect something that was never meant to happen to you. The company day was on the 2nd of July and from what I had heard and seen we were easily the team walking up to the dias and taking the best project award. The evening had other plans for us. Obviously, we didn’t have our date with destiny that day, but what was more appaling was the choice of the projects which got the awards.

There are five categories in all - three of them went to the ever - growing, more significant BPO segment of the firm, the fourth went to a project belonging to a division that had already been sold off and the fifth went to a four month old project that maintains an intranet website that looks like a high school project. I see these guys in the rec room anytime of the day (and night). ’nuff said.

Reflecting on these results leads me to only two conclusions - We are no looking in the direction the firm is seeing in, or that the project is too difficult to classify into one of the segments that were defined for the award. Lesson learnt - What is yours will always come to you. No matter what! you don’t have to expect.

The showcasing was a big flop ;-). I pity those souls who spent many hours working on the presentations and the posters. Ultimately, only the games got played. We had setup a 3 way Quake-3 Arena. I sure had fun playing that!!

It sure is a pretty small post. I’d like to close this with a quote I received from a friend today morning…

“Happiness is not having what you want. It is wanting what you have.”
