One of the first things I was thinking as soon as I got the TV was to get an xbox 360. I was really in two minds of moving to a new gaming platform. The final push came to me on my birthday, in the form of a Halo 3 special edition DVD. So headed out to music world a few days later to grab the elite edition of the 360 - for two particular reasons - HDMI output and a huge 120 GB hard disk attached.
the 360 elite with the halo 3 faceplate and the wireless controller.
Needless to say, the console and the game lived up to the hype. Halo 3 looks just mind blowing on the 50’ screen. check out some of the screenshots below
the controller takes some time getting used to, but it’s just awesome fun once you get the hang of it. Now I really miss a good AV receiver to take advantage of the dolby digital 5.1 sound; for now I’m adjusting with the stereo output upscaled to 4 channels.
For those of you who are under the impression that the 360 is just used to play games, get your facts right - it’s one of the most versatile media centers out there. Plug in a camera into the USB port, start browsing the pics on the camera. Plug in a USB drive with movies, music and no matter what it shows up on the TV at full high definition glory, courtesy of the in built scaler. The December update allows you to play DivX/Xvid encoded files :)
…its time to build that movie library now.
