…so, the creative zen vision costed a bomb ;-( and they had the micro version of the player which was definitely not intent on getting. So, here I was, sitting with a dead iPod not able to get anywhere. And then, thanks to google, I found ilounge. Browsing thru the forums, I found a thread that exactly described the problem I was having..with a very interesting solution. It said -

  • dismantle iPod
  • Remove the hard disk
  • strike it hard against your palm 4-5 times
  • put it back in
  • sync up your music

That was probably the craziest reply I ever read. I had nothing to lose here, so I tried it out…!! guess what… it perfectly synced my 35+ GB collection. So, I’m safe for now, all of my tunes are playing okay. I haven’t dared to sync it up after this episode.

Anyways, it’s almost run out of capacity, so I’ve asked bugs to bring me a 60GB replacement disk. Guess what… it would cost me around $150 - a far cry from the approx $450 that apple was charging. Thanks so much bugs :)

I was also wondering why tech support was so pathetic.

This article sufficiently answered my question. It’s a four page article on the insides of a tech support centre - partly funny, but quite a serious undercurrent in it all. Check this extract out…

Even when he rolled in by 11, holding a cup of coffee and wearing sunglasses, he looked as if merely being upright was unfairly challenging his abilities. Despite being comically late he usually started class by collapsing into a chair and telling us to take some “e-mail time.”…

Bottom line - If there is a problem with the computer, take things into your own hands. At the worst, you’ll lose the comp and you would have to get a new one. At least, the experience is definitely worth it.

That’s how the iPod story came to an end….for now at least…!!

…as usual, work was killing and it’s been more than a month since I’ve posted…everything’s coming chronologically now…!
