Life has been very monotonous for the past eight weeks. timelines have been pretty devastating and I have lost track of how many saturdays I’ve spent in the office. Overall, I sure could use some change. Of late, I’ve been really contemplating on buying a SBK. the question is which one? ladies and gentlemen - presenting the contenders

  • Honda CBR600 cbr600.jpg
  • Yamaha YZF R6 R6.jpg
  • Yamaha YZF 600 yzf600.jpg

All of them are 600 cc 4 cylinder in-lines with Fuel injection. You can get an approximate milage of around 35 km/lit from these bikes, which makes them very good street bikes :). I have grown really tired of waiting for these over promised ( and possibly under delivered) 250 cc segment that is still yet to launch here.

The only ‘ouch’ in this whole story is the cost. These have to be imported - the customs and excise duties add on around 100% to the cost of the bike; damn these @%@##% politicians. Customs duties are levied to encourage local manufacturers. Now which Indian manufacturer builds beauties like these? hamara “100cc” bajaj?? NO WAY!! ;-).

Anyways.. after putting it to gether, each bike comes to around 6.5 lakhs. I thought I"d own a merc by the time I was 30, it sure looks tought to put together around 30 lakhs for a basic c-class merc, but 6.5 lakhs looks pretty easy…!! am sure gonna gift myself one of these beauties before I’m 30.

psst… the Harleys are coming to India. I sure hope they bring in the v-rods.
