The month of June is very eagerly looked forward to by the management here. The reason - two scores arrive that define you as a leader. The first is the Gallup survey which shows how effective you are as a manager in terms of taking care of the team and the second is the client survey which is filled in by the end client. Bottom line, your performance as a leader is evaluated from all directions.
This was the first time I was getting the gallup score individually as there were greater than 5 people reporting directly to me; I was a little excited about the scores though. I wasn’t tooo worried about the client survey anyways, we did extremely well last year and the only direction we’ve been heading as a team is always up
Both of the results arrived yesterday - in the space of a couple of hours.
The client survey was a no-brainer. It was better than the last time, so nothing out of the ordinary there. The Gallup was another story though. Given the amount of investment that had gone into the team, we just crossed 4 on a scale of 5. Anyways, that is good feedback and there is definite scope for improvement, both for the team and myself; that is if the team decides to open up and speak out their thoughts freely. We aren’t getting anywhere if everyone sits quiet.
Work is slowly spiralling out of control. It is pretty disappointing because inspite of giving everything you can, things don’t work out they way they’re supposed to. Obviously, we will get to see longer hours and more pressure. thankfully, it’s not a long term phenomena. We should be done with this work by the end of July.
Anyways…that’s the news for now…more if I get the time to post…!
