That is what I’ve been seeing for the last 24 hours on my iPod screen…it’s a pathetic feeling staying here when you know that all it needs is another 1.8’ disk costing around $150 from any good store. Why is it pathetic being here?? well…none of them ship to India.
I called up apple support today and they gave me the same crap…it’s even there on the support site
Ladies and Gentlemen…the 5 R’s of repairing your iPod -
- reset the iPod
- retry on a different USB port
- restart your computer ( LOL :) even apple has started using this excuse)
- reinstall iTunes and iPod Software
- restore your iPod
I think they missed the sixth step…recycle it !!
The tech support is really pathetic…I told the guy I was connecting on a firewire port, but he still asks me to try a different USB port…jeez…!! don’t they get enough training to know what firewire and what USB is?
anyway… I told them that the hard disk had crashed and I was getting clicking noises from it and the only way out was a hard disk replacement. Now, get this - this was the worst part…this was the fourth time I was going to them with the same problem, the earlier three times were within the warranty period. They got the thing to work somehow but they didn’t do the replacement. Now that the warranty’s up, they are ready to replace :(
the costs are even worse…!! have to spend $150 plus the costs of the spares plus shipping to get this fixed…and oh..!! that figure gets multiplied by 43 as USD is not the currency that is locally used. The icing on the cake…add a 10.2% service tax to it all.
I’m simply going and getting a new one…not an iPod… have had absolutely enough of it..!!
I’m going back to the folks who were instrumental in putting audio into computers - Creative. Saw this fantastic 30 GB online today and will be inquiring prices tomorrow…!!
Thanks to apple for the wonderful experience… It’s micosoft all the way for me :)
