What the eyes see and the ears hear, the mind believes

For the second time, life has taught me that it is wrong to expect something that was never meant to happen to you. The company day was on the 2nd of July and from what I had heard and seen we were easily the team walking up to the dias and taking the best project award. The evening had other plans for us. Obviously, we didn’t have our date with destiny that day, but what was more appaling was the choice of the projects which got the awards.

The iPod saga continues and finishes for now

…so, the creative zen vision costed a bomb ;-( and they had the micro version of the player which was definitely not intent on getting. So, here I was, sitting with a dead iPod not able to get anywhere. And then, thanks to google, I found ilounge. Browsing thru the forums, I found a thread that exactly described the problem I was having..with a very interesting solution. It said -

And the iPod crapped out

That is what I’ve been seeing for the last 24 hours on my iPod screen…it’s a pathetic feeling staying here when you know that all it needs is another 1.8’ disk costing around $150 from any good store. Why is it pathetic being here?? well…none of them ship to India. I called up apple support today and they gave me the same crap…it’s even there on the support site

This evening, I had the pleasure of riding along side a cherry red porsche boxster S…all along necklace road…!! boy, that car is super amazing…!! I wish

The automobile industry, especially the two wheeler segment will never change. Typical indian mentality - the first thing they ask on seeing a bike is “what’s the mileage?” it’s the standard question for every bike from the bajaj CT 100 (wow… that gives 110 km per litre) to the honda 954 CBR (wow…we don’t even have the proper roads for this baby to ride on). Mileage scores in our land and thus the big companies (with their wonderful bikes) - honda (Shine - Shines in what?

And the scores are out

The month of June is very eagerly looked forward to by the management here. The reason - two scores arrive that define you as a leader. The first is the Gallup survey which shows how effective you are as a manager in terms of taking care of the team and the second is the client survey which is filled in by the end client. Bottom line, your performance as a leader is evaluated from all directions.

Another late night!!

…at the office; so, what’s new about that?? Well…this time, I really wanted to go home and get some sleep cos tomorrow was going to be a very long and a hectic day. At 1 AM, when I was getting ready to leave, I find I’ve missed my bike keys somwhere; effectively I’m stranded at the office!! Pretty pathetic end to a relatively nice day I should say…!!…or so I thought!

Goldman Sachs

…is generally considered to be the most demanding project across our company. The general word is that working for a year in the GS project is equivalent to working for two years on any other project. To average joe, it seems like a project best avoided…you get paid the same for two times the work, twice the pressure..phew…!! Why would someone want to stay on there…!! Henry Paulson is the chairman of Goldman Sachs and there was a mail from him yesterday which started like this…
